The Legend of the Undrowned God

The Saltpriests of the Salasar Isles dedicate themselves mostly to beating back the hostile environment of the Isles. Their only divine force is exemplified in a legend of an “undrowned man” who crops up once or twice every century. The latest incarnation of his legend is as follows:

“The stories say that, for centuries, a Deathless Man roamed the firm lands of the continent. There he was cast down by the highborn men of the soft earth. They spat upon him, snapped his bones, dashed his brains out upon a stone. But he simply wiped the spittle from his cheek, set his bones, and gathered his brains back into the bowl of his skull. Then he roamed until he reached the Shadowed Seas. And then he walked them too, not upon the surface but down to their depths. He walked down to the ocean floor and back up again to reach the Salasar Isles. A mad old priest even tried to offer him back to the sea, as sacrifice, drowning the man once more. But he rose again, traveled across the isles, and to the sea again. Some say he waits in the depths still, others that he traveled on to the greater island, Antenora, where he makes his home.”
